iMac doesn't recognize iPod or iPad

Neither my iPad or iPod are recognized or mounted by my iMac when connected via the 30-pin connector and USB. I've tried 2 different cables. I'm running Mac OS X 10.6.4 and iTunes 9.2 after updating just this morning.

Any help appreciated.
