VW Communication Package not compatible

I own a 2010 VW Crew Cab with communication package. My iPhone 3Gs (software ver 4) will not pair with the system. The phone is found with the device search, but when trying to pair, the car system says the device is not compatible. VW tried upgrading the software on the car without success and now do not seem to have an answer. The have asked me to make sure the SIM Card Remote is enabled !!! I do not know how to do this.

there are several ways to pair a mobile by bt - some VW communication packages do not support "handsfree" ( this one works for the iPhone) but only "rSAP"
(remote SIM access profile) rSAP isn't supported by iPhone - only by Nokia.

Refer to your VW documentation regarding supported profiles.
In case only rSAP is supported you have to swap your communication box to a compatible one.

Over here in Europe VW offers a new box that supports both rSAP as well as Handsfree.

Hi,

Can you tell me what Code have this combined rSAP and Hands Free model. In Macedonia there is only one model (9ZU) that supports rSAP, but there is no info if it also supports basic Hands Free.

Bad news after having done some research: 9ZU is the old one that supports rSAP only.

The replacement box that will also do Handsfree (VW replacement order number 000 051 473 F) is approx. 350 Euro. The exchange will take about 15 minutes as that box is located underneath the front seat and all that has to be done is removing 2 wires and reconnecting them.
