I guess I should say where is the IPOD preferences? Is it in Itune?? or my IPOD which I am having problems with and can't get into it, Thanks in advance Doc!
The preferences are stored in the iPod, but you access them with iTunes.
Connect the iPod.
Open iTunes.
Bring up the Preferences (I think they're under the File menu).
Click on the iPod icon accross the top of the preference window.
This will show the preferences assigned for the selected iPod. One of the check boxes at the bottom of the window is Enable Disk Mode. Hopefully you'll be able to clear that checkbox and click OK to save the changes.
If that doesn't work... you could try using the iPod updater to reload the factory specs. This will wipe out your music on the iPod and you'll have to reload. If you're managing your music manually, you may want to back up the data before trying a reload.
Thanks Doc, I appreciate the info. Unfortunately when I click on the IPOD tab, it states no IPOD Connected and it's connected. I tried to unplug and replug, and nothing. This is depressing and very aggresvating.
Ok do I run it or save the Updater? Once I get there, what's the next steps. It seems I have tried doing this several times today, but maybe I'm doing something wrong. Any help is apprecaite people. THanks!
If you don't already have the updater, download the latest version.
Open the iPod updater. It should give you a window saying no iPod connected, with dimmed out buttons to Update and to Restore factory settings.
Connect the iPod. Hopefully, the updater will recognize it and you'll be able to use the Restore button. You might want to try the Update button first if it activates. But I dont' think there have been any nano updates yet. If the updater won't recognize the iPod, you'll have to find better help than me.
