Backup session failed

Hey, I updated to the new ITunes, 9.2, and I try to update my IPod but when it gets the the backup portion of the update it gives me the message "ITunes could not back up the IPod "DJ's IPod" because the backup session failed". I've tried to manually backup my IPod by right clicking on my IPod and hitting backup, but the same exact thing happens. Can anyone help me and tell me what to do in order to backup my IPod so I can actually update it. Thanks

Windows XP

I can't answer your question other that to suggest the obvious like reset the iPod and restart your computer, then try again. If you are still inside your warranty period you should call Apple and get their advice. If you are outside the 90 day call period but still in the 1 year warranty period, you could purchase the extended warranty to get the free call service for 2 years. BTW, you can purchase the warranty on Amazon at a discount.

Welcome to the discussions,
another thing to try would be deleting the existing backup and try again to backup manually or sync.
But before you try, copy the backup folder to a safe place, in case you'll need it again.
Then delete the backup in iTunes/settings/devices.
Your backup folder is located here:
Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
