Hi all. I purchased a Belkin firewire cable, 800/400, 9 to 6 pin for my 2009 Imac. While the cable is recognized by my MacBook Pro 2009, the Imac doesn't pick it up. What could be the problem?

I use the cable mostly for connecting my Lacie backup to the computers. But again, the firewire cable is never recognized by the Imac.

Suggestions? Thanks.

Do you have another cable? Or can you borrow one?

Sometimes, a plug that works fine in one port won't quite make contact in a different one.

Or, there may be a problem with the port on your iMac. Is there any other F/W device you can connect to be sure?

I've found the FW ports and plugs, especially the 800, to be a little finicky too. I really don't like the way these ports and plugs are engineered. Doesn't seem like as solid of a physical fit as is the case with USB.
