Apple mobile device is not listed in the device manager

I got a problem with Apple Mobie Device Usb driver. I have windows vista, an Ipod 80gb and the latest version of Itunes
I followed all the instructions in this page http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 but when I opened "universal serial bus controllers" in the device
manager, the "apple mobile device" or "ipod" aren't listed (and neither are any "Unknown" devices) so I can't restart them or reinstall the correct driver as the instructions in the link tell me to do.
I also checked in all the different sections of the device manager in case the apple mobile device was in one of them, but it's not listed anywhere.
I also checked in "Services" to be sure that "apple mobile device" and "ipod service" were running, and yes they are. I restarted them but nothing changed.
the cable is perfectly working because when the Ipod is connected it's charging.
I also tried to connect it in disk mode, but nothing happened.
Yes, I also tryed to uninstall and reinstall Itunes and all its component (like 40 times i think)
I really don't know what to do.
thanks for your time, hope someone will help me
