Q: Iphone 4 people cant hear me during calls.

I recently have been having issues with people hearing me when i call them or i receive their calls. My sound works perfectly through Facetime and thru mic apps. What gives? Do I need to return my iphone to have this fixed? Resetting has not fixed the problem. =(

Yesterday my phone started doing this. I can hear others perfectly but they cant hear me at all. Sometimes they will hear me for the first 10-15 seconds of the call but then they cant. I have tried blowing on the microphone, screwing the mic screws tighter, turning off 3G, resetting the celluar network, restoring my iphone, restarting my iphone, opening the voice memo app and closing it... i have done it all. HELP! PLEASE!

    *Hi guys*,

I have the same problem with my iPhone 4.

I've been in contact with Apple Support who told me that it's a known problem and all customers who are experiencing the symptoms should contact Apple Support and explain the problem as well as create a repair ticket and return the device for repair.

A representative from UPS is collecting my iPhone 4 today and i'm expecting a full replacement because it's a hardware error which cannot be fixed easily.

    *Just me being curious:*
When did you guys buy your iPhone 4? I bought mine Juli 2010.
It could be exciting to determine if the faulty phones is related to maybe the same production/shipping month or something like that.

    Regards,
    *Simon Petersen-Testrup*

Hi I'm Peter from the Netherlands, I am also suffering the same problem, it has nothing to do with firmware or jaulbreaking, it's the phone!

I was on 4.1 for months and al of a sudden this problem appeared two weeks ago, by the way my phone is approx. from july 2010, I have installed it as a new iphone, I have updated the firmware 2 times , nothing seems to make a difference, it also does not matter if you are jailbroken or not because I know someone who has the same problem that started also a few weeks ago and her phone is as standard as can be. Does anyone know if Apple has responded in any way to this problem?

FYI, I struggled with this issue for a few weeks (restoring, upgrading, resetting, etc.) and today I took it back to the Genius Bar and after they verified the problem (thankfully it happened every time) they replaced it for me. New one seems OK for now.

    Woohoo!

My phone has been great in every way, until about a week or so. People couldn't hear me. It was an intermittent issue, so I rebooted the phone, called support, tried all kinds of stuff.  Well, today I went to Apple store. They checked it out. Gave me a new, replacement phone. Hate restoring a new phone from scratch, but glad it works!

This has been happening to me recently. I tried everything from turning off the 4G, using my headphones/speaker, software upgrades, complete restore, and disabling the cellular data. I finally took it to the Apple store last night. They ran the diagnosis and everything came back fine but my memory to run aplications was very low. I had never know that every app I ever opened was still running in the background, and that is why no one could hear me on the phone. To see what apps you have running unlock your phone then once on the home screen, double click the home button. To delete the apps that are running, hold the app down and press the delete button. Snce I did this, everyone can hear me and my phone is running MUCH faster. I had about 30 different apps open (this includes texts, phone, clock...anything you have ever opened).

    RESOLUTION

I spoke to tech support and one thing they had me try was to toggle bluetooth on/off

    Settings/General/Bluetooth

    Toggle it on, then off

I fixed my problem, but only temporarily.

Support said if the issue persists, to bring/send the phone in for replacement, which is what I'm going to do.

    FINAL RESOLUTION

Ended up taking the phone back to where i got it (Radio Shack).  They tried to insist that I dropped it, which i hadn't (the phone is only a couple weeks old).  After some convincing, they replaced it for a new one.  Let's hope this one doesn't have the same issue.

Nobody has found a solution and Apple hasn't given any answer.. it seems the only way to get it fixed is that Apple replaces is with a new one... bummer.

    Help!

This appears to have happened to me today.

This morning I received a call and all was fine.

This afternoon someone tried to call me and I was saying "hello, hello, hello" and there was nothing.

I then put the phone onto speaker and I could hear the caller and the could hear me. Apparently though, they could hear me all the time on previous call....

I have read what everyone has been writing and have an appointment with the genius bar tomorrow evening.

It appears a lot of people have had their phones replaced - this would be great. Mine is over a year old and I bought it from O2 and not Apple. Does this matter? I also don't have insurance.

    Can anyone give some advice!

    Really appreciate it

    Mark
