I recently have been having issues with people hearing me when i call them or i receive their calls. My sound works perfectly through Facetime and thru mic apps. What gives? Do I need to return my iphone to have this fixed? Resetting has not fixed the problem. =(
Do you solve your problem? I have the same issue. During call people are not ale to hear me any more. Is is happening excidently and there is no rule for it. It is not conected with proximity sensor.
I just got my iPhone 4 yesterday and my first call two calls to my wife she said I was whispering and couldn't make out anything I was saying. Ended up having to text her.
I am having the same issue, iPhone 4. When I received a call the caller says they can't hear me. I am not using a case and the plastic is off. It works fine when I am on a speaker phone call or, bluetooth, or headset. Must be an issue with the mic or the noise cancelation.
I am having this same problem! Brought it to the apple store - genius had me do a full restore (and then from my backup). It worked for about 24 hours, and then mid call yesterday afternoon, it started again - nobody can hear me!
I'm having the SAME issue...did a full restore as well...still same thing. I'm NOT pushing mute, or anything. Literally the other person says they hear really bad static, then they cannot hear my voice at all.
I call back and they can't hear me. Have tried switching to Edge, and does the same thing. Restarted phone. Same thing.
AT&T reprovisioned (reset network) my account and still does the same thing. No one else I know is having this issue.
I having the same issue too. It is also affecting iTunes, Pandora, and similar apps. In order to hear calls I have to put the phone on speaker or use the headphones. Not sure what this problem is, but it's a problem. Just started today for me.
Okay maybe not the solution for all but this worked for us. Just started 8/12 - Apple suggested restore as new with 4.0.2 which worked for a while. When the problem reoccured today I asked my daughter what apps she had open, especially which ones with audio. Ah the old zippo lighter app, which has the neat feature of blowing into the mic to affect the flame. I had already closed all open apps and callers could hear. She opened zippo and the called - couldn't hear her! She closed zippo (actually uninstalled) and voilà - I could hear her again. Apparently there is a conflict of apps using the mic - if you have this problem try closing all apps that have mic features and try again. Then post your result!!!
I just preformed and restore and setup as new device, didn't load any apps and I'm still having the same issues of people not able to hear me. I'm going to call in to the AppleCare and get my phone warranted out, unless anyone has any other suggestions or ideas to try.
I have an iphone 4 just got it last month worked beautifull for the first month then one day out of nowhere i started having this problem of callers can not hear me anymore. so when i call a mobile or a landline its the same, sometimes it just does not work at all and sometimes it works for about 15 secs then the caller can not hear me.
I tried the following
1. restart the phone (on/off) - no luck
2. updated to the latest software 4.0.2 - no luck
3. restored my iphone to its original settings - no luck
4. tightened the two screws at the bottom thinking there might be something loose - no luck
5. tried using speaker, bluetooth, ear piece - no luck
6. the plastic cover that came with the phone is off so its not like it didnt work from the beginning the phone was working just fine for a month.
7. took the sim card out and back in - no luck
the only way for the phone to work is to hit the phone very slightly (hold the phone vertically and just hit it downwards a couple of time against a table) and the callers will start hearing you again, this will work for about 30 secs then the same problem so you gotta keep hitting the phone against an object for it to work everytime the caller cant hear you.
its looking like something is loose inside, called apple care and they didnt have an answer, so i am sending the phone to apple for a replacement as this is becoming very frustrating.
This isn't on an iPhone 4, but my girlfriend is experiencing the exact same thing with her 3G. Out of the blue her mic doesn't seem to work anymore. Sometimes it works like 15 seconds speaking with someone, but then her voice gets garbled, or cuts out entirely, and the reciever can't hear a thing she says.
As said, this came out of the blue, without dropping the phone or anything. Her 3G is 2 years old now, and never had any problems before.
We've tried replacing the mic, restoring as new, cleaning out the jack-connector and what not. Nothing has helped at all. It's weird, because sometimes it works with the speaker turned on during a call, I mean, you can hear your own voice on the phone, but the reciever can't hear anything. We've also tried with the headset, and a bluetooth headset, which works fine.
I'm guessing it's a software bug somewhere really. Hope someone could find out whats going on though.
Didn't have a micro sim so cut my old one down and it worked perfectly for around 3 weeks. Decided I may as well get the proper micro sim as it is meant to have it and since putting that in callers can not hear me on the phone. Incoming or outgoing same result.
Went to my mobile carrier and swapped out to new micro sim....same result
reverted back to old sim.....same result.
Just trying to restore to 4.0.2 to see if this helps.
Same EXACT thing happening here. Going to the genius Bar tomorrow. So frustrating considering my phone was less than a week old when this started happening the other day!
