iPhone 4 - No Sound, Bad Hardware?

ha, Had my phone on silent all day and just turned silent off and no keyboard clicks, the volume up and down isn't working, I can hear keyboard clicks if I click the keyboard click sound on and off button or when I turn on the voice control comes out fine and I can change the volume of voice control. Def a software issue.

I have an issue where the speaker icon becomes selected during a call and I cannot hear the person i'm dialling, and they cannot hear me.

I think I have worked it out that it only occurs when I plug my phone into my car stereo (through an iPhone cable, not Aux), listen to some music, then disconnect it and try to make an outbound call (even if the call is not immediately after the disconnection).

I'm not 100% sure that it is always the case, but since I started noting when it occurs, it has always been correct.

For the record, I have a Pioneer car stereo.

Does this sound the same for anyone else?

Hi! I had the same issue on my IPhone4. I talked with AppleCare Support and the advisor suggested me to backup and restore the device with ITunes WITHOUT synchronize any app (I had about 30 apps) and now it's working!!!

Then wait some hours and after try to synchronize 5 app to find which one caused the issue.

Had the same over here; sound via earphone was OK, but no sound from speaker. These was no volume slider bar on the screen as well and on touching the vol up/down button no volume indicator on the screen.

My phone just thought it was connected to a doking station. Why? Well, the connector was dirty and a bit humid. Cleaned it with a toothpick and tork paper.

DONE

So I discovered i had the same issue and this may sound stupid but.. if you look in the connector port on the phone itself in my case anyway there was corrosion bewteen two of the pins.. i took a thin needle ( after turning off the phone) and scraped it off as best i could.. now it works again :S I had this happen once before but it was a small metal shaving that was in my pocket from work hope it helps 🙂

make sure the side switch isn't on vibrate

I had the same problem, please clean the iphone power plugin bay with hair dry machine after sounds and music will work again
