Viewing Shared (i.e. delegated) Calendars on iPad

Hello,

I am currently using a 32GB Wifi/3G iPad running iOS 3.2. I have searched a few forums and was unable to find any information about how to view a shared Exchange calendar on the iPad. I overcame this limitation on my iPhone (running iOS 4) by adding an additional Exch account. This isn't ideal as I wouldn't have been able to do so if I didn't know the shared calendar user's credentials, and as we all know iOS 3.2 supports only one Exchange account.

I tried de-syncing calendars on the iPad and re-syncing, but I still only see my personal Exchange calendar and another one I added via CalDAV.

Is there any known way to get this resolved? I'm a busy network administrator and I'd hate to be unable to see our shared IT calendar until Sept./Nov. or whenever iOS 4 is released for the iPad.

Regards, D

Hi Dan,

Thanks for your response. However, the only CalDAV I am using is the standard Google calendar for a personal account. The shared IT calendar which I need access to is an Exchange account which I am delegated access to.

I'm sad that there seems to be no official recourse for this issue other than to wait until iOS 4.0 for iPad. This really tarnishes what is otherwise an excellent business tool.

Regards,
D

I had the same issue as you -- I have several google calendars shared with me, but they did not show up on my iPad or iPhone. My solution was simple: email (or have them email) the iCal link for the shared calendar. Click on the link in the mail app on the device and it will ask if you want to add this calendar, choose yes and everything should show up correctly. Now when you open the iPad calendar app and tap the "calendars" button you should see that calendar in the "subscribed" section. Make sure you have it checked to display.

The iCal link for google calenders can be found be going into calendar settings. There should be two sections at the bottom that give xml, iCal and html links for both the public and private calendar addresses.

only way i have able to make this work is by downloading another web browser and have it "identify" itself as IE or as firefox.....

then browse to your web-outlook-exchange site and you should see the full (not ipad/tablet version) of the website.

for example

get iChromy app

tap the WRENCH for tools

tap OPTIONS

scroll down to IDENTIFY BROWSER AS

select FIREFOX

once that is complete you can veiw the full outlook website,,,,, including other peoples SHARED CALENDARS!!

if you got a better idea, lemme know

There's an app for that!

LookeeLoo (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/lookee-loo/id385456868?mt=8) will allow you to view other people's Exchange calendars.

People are correct when they say that EAS (ActiveSync) does not support querying another person's calendar, so LookeeLoo uses EWS (Exchange Web Services) to query Exchange 2007/2010 calendar information.

Hi,

We have created CalendarONE, a great solution enabling shared Outlook/Exchange calendars to be managed from iOS.

Any Exchange calendar that has been shared with you can be added to the iOS calendar app, it honours all permission too. If you can create/manage an event in Outlook you can create/manage an event from your iOS device too.

No more going to Safari for WebAccess to check a persons availability, now it's in your iOS calendar app.

Try it.

Best
