Revert to Java update 1. Available?

Hi,
After installing the Java update 2 a while ago I started having problems and getting Java errors that appears to be memory leaks in Matlab. Working a lot with Matlab I'm getting pretty tired of this since it forces me to restart the program many times and greatly reduces productivity. I would like to revert to Java update 1, but since Apple has been so nice to remove that update from the web I can't. Been looking elsewhere, but can't find it. Can this update be found anywhere else? Does anyone still have it on their HD and would like to share? It would help me tons!

Macbook 2.1 2007, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

Thanks for the reply macjack. Are you sure that Java cannot be downgraded? In the thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11550800&#11550800 KJK555 suggests a method that apparently worked for him/her. The problem is still that it cannot be tested since update 1 is nowhere to be found. I would really prefer not to reinstall SL at this time, and even if I did I suppose update 1 is removed from the Apple server and it would go straight to update 2 or no update at all. Unfortunately I have no time machine backup that far back...need to get a bigger disk I suppose.

If you read the thread and tried the link, the Java 1 update is no longer available from Apple. Your only option is to reinstall SL and MathLab and see if it works with the original Java installation. I suspect you have a mucked up installation, since the memory leak issue isn't a common issue, else there'd be many posts on the subject. BTW, Mathematica 7 works without any issues w/Java update 2.

Hi rehuka:

http://azlist.info/kj/support/javaupd1osx10.6.zip

using --unlink instead of --forget will remove the update2 package (pkgutil).

--unlink package-id:
Unlinks (removes) each file referenced by package-id. WARN-
ING: This command makes no attempt to perform reference
counting or dependency analysis. It can easily remove files
required by your system. It may include unexpected files due
to package tainting. Use the --files command first to double
check.

Always back up your system before making changes to it.

Thanks baltwo and KJK555 for your replies and the file! It is probably a problem related to Matlab, and not necessarily the update itself. I've heard that Java updates and Matlab are not the best of friends. I haven't tried the revert yet as I'm travelling and unable to make a proper system backup atm. For others interested in this I will post a reply if it doesn't work.
