Problems with iSync and P910i

I am having huge trouble syncing my iBook G4 (Mac OS 10.3.9) with my SonyEricsson P910i via Bluetooth. I am using iSync 1.5 (v139)

First I paired the cell phone and my iBook, then I opened iSync and added the P910 and sync it. It worked fine, but if I quit iSync, the next time I open iSync I lose the P910i icon and the syncing no longer works.

I’ve done this process of pairing the P910i to my Mac and adding the P910i to iSync several times. It works but then when I quit iSync and start it again it stops syncing!

This is the error message I always get at iSync:
|P910i| iSync was unable to connect to P910i. Try syncing again.
Can't synchronize contacts to P910i: device is not available
Can't synchronize calendars and To Do items to P910i: device is not available.

Hi there - I've found the answer I think - had the same problem for weeks and have now synced successfully on 10 consecutive occasions doing this. Before I sync, I go to my P910, choose "iSync config" where "iSync agent is running". I select "stop iSync agent". Then when it's stopped, I select "start iSync agent". 10/10 times since it has worked. It seems to be that the phone iSync agent forgets that it's on and needs to be reminded. Hope that works for you.

If you go to your P910 applications and scroll down it should be one of the programs available - in my phone it is the last one. If you can't find it, please check if you've got "All" selected in the top right hand corner next to the triangle (just in case you are in a folder which excludes the "iSync Config" agent.

If you really haven't got the agent in the phone (which is probably unlikely since it sounds like you have managed to sync before) you'll need to reinstall it. To do that, the next time you get a message that the P910 is not connected, follow the Help program which is called the Phone set up assistant I think - and reinstall from the beginning.

Hope that helps.

I am running OS X 10.4.4 with iSync 2.1.1 and I am also having serious problems to sync the events in my iCal.

The sync runs fine but none of the events in the phone are mirrored in iCal, neither any of the events on iCal is mirrored in the P910i.

I have already tried to stop running the Sync Agent in the phone and then restart it before running a new sync but no joy that way either!

I am really giving up on this. Is there anyone who could help???

I have exactly the same problem when trying to sync my P910 and my ical.
The address go through fine, but when i try the ical i get an error message ... cant remember exactly, buy im sure its an 11 error message.
I have tried all the downloads and suggestions from alll the discussion boards i have seen, but none seem to work.

Has anybody managed to get them to sync their P910 with the latest version of ical?

Help needed please!!

Hi.

It would seem we all have similar problems

I Bought a new powrebook back in October. 15",80GB,512 Ram, 10.4.4(I was on windows xp using Outlook - syncing with my p900)

I'm struggling to sync my P900 with my powerbook. I've followed all the bluetooth/pairing/isync instructions to the letter and have downloaded the isync application to my phone.

I CAN sync the contacts and browse the p900, mbut the isync crashes about 13 percent of the way into the calender sync. It give me the following message on the phone:

Program Main

Reason Code USER

Reason number 11

and the following message in isync:

Monday, 21 November 2005 17:47
The connection was lost while getting the changes from the device.
Device "GLENSTAN~P900" synchronization failed.

I've tried syncing less calender (ie prior to one week) and it still doesn't sync.

Has anyone got any ideas ? I thought that it might be my firmware and have tired updating via the SE update service but that doesn't seem to work either.

To top it off, it works perfectly using my old Laptop - Windows XP and outlook.

any ideas would be greatly appreciated:)

And almost the same problems here.

It took me ages to get the iSync client on my phone. Somehow my phone wouldnt be found, and if it was found it couldnt be paired.
Even though I added my Mac to my phone, and my phone to my Mac. And selected the 'Allow to connect without confirmation' option on my phone.

Then finally, like magic, the iSync client started to install on my phone, but halfway through the transfer it kept on stalling and then timed out. This went on for a few times.

Now it is running on my phone, and syncs the addresses perfectly (even the pictures in my addressbook appear on my phone). But my calenders mess up! It started with only syncing my work calendar, and now it decided to also sync my birthday calendar somehow. But the other 5 remain un-synced.

And to make it even better. Now I regularly get the following message:
Cannot connect to the device.
Device "P910-1" synchronization failed

I named my P910i "P910-1" because I read somewhere that this make the iSync app find the phone better. But no succes.

Sometimes it does sync on the second try, or so I think. It looks like iSync will try to connect twice before timing out and sending me the error message. This because when I press the Sync button, my phone lights up.. and dimms again, but nothing happens on iSync. Then about 30 seconds later, my phone lights up again.

My phone runs R4A10 software, so that should be OK I think.

And my Mac is up to date, running 10.4.4

Any advice?

It is a totally unpredictable process

Hi.

It finally worked !!!!

I re-set devices via isync (having printed my calenders from outlook and backed up my phone on my old PC), entered in all my info to ical manually, and then synced - worked first time - all calenders are syncing, and to do's, contatcs etc etc...

I've no idea why it worked but it did. If anyone has any idea i'd love to know.

Hope this helps.

Thanks

Glen.

It worked for me too!

I removed all bluetooth and isync connections. Reconnected P910 with Mac using the bluetooth assisant. Once connection established I fired up isync and added phone as a new device, then got it to reset my phone (I had a backup just in case it all went wrong).

Since then I have been able to add/modify on my phone and on ical and sync up both sets of changes. The address book has always synced fine.

Perhaps it was struggling with the way some entries had been added by the previous (SE pc) sync software? I saw one item on a board suggesting that all-day entries were the culprit.
I had previously tried to get it working by wiping the calendar information using the phone menu but to no avail. This fixed it for me. Hope it helps anyone else with this problem. Thanks for posting your fix!

Alas,

tried it.. but no luck. It paired instantly this time. But when I tried to add it to iSync it came up with the message that the device is not supported... When I tried again, it did manage to add it.

When selecting that it should erase the device then sync, it didnt do anything in the first 3 tries, then it worked. But it is the same as last time. Out of my 7 calenders it seems to only sync about 4. The addressbook works fine.

I think this is a serious problem, since I frequently use my phone as a PDA. And am planning to buy the SE 990 when it comes out. But if this also gives problems of this size, I am forced to swap to a PC laptop for my agenda/planning.

This should fix the p910 syncing problems Dudes and Dudettes.

Make sure iSync is closed... go to Library, then to Preferences, then find com.apple.isync.plist & drag it out to your desktop. Close finder & then relaunch iSync

Worked for me thanks to some brilliant Apple tech I reached via Apples 800 #. And he didn't ask for a credit card either. We actually hooked up on iChat and got it figured out.
