Album just gone from itunes and purchase history

An album that I listen to all the time is missing from itunes, and when I check for "purchases," only the digital booklet shows up. What's worse, is it says the digital booklet is from 2003, and the album came out around 2015. I'm not sure why itunes deleted my album and is now making me pay for a new one, but this has happened two or three times. How do I get my album back without falling into this scam?
