Green blocks on ATV 4K Home Sharing photos screensaver

Hi,

Since a few months ago some photos that are displayed as a screensaver for my Apple TV 4K show weird green blocks. (see foto attachment on the bottom)

There is no pattern as to why the fotos are showing it. Not to my knowledge anyway. Its not that its only with portrait photos, or front cam pics or edited photos or whatever. But at the same time the photos that have it, keep showing it.

They only show on the Apple TV, never on the iPhone or the on the Photos app in my iMac, from which the photos are home shared by the way.

Has anyone ever encountered anything like it? Got any ideas how I can try to fix it?

I recently clean installed my entire iMac, re-downloading all pics from the iCloud. Also factory reset the Apple TV the other day. I didn't do that because of the green blocks but I was hoping it would fix that too.

Apparently it didn't effect the same pictures after all. Different pictures every time. For some reason though, I didn't do anything, it fixed itself. **** if we ever figure out what it was exactly, but heck, its fixed!!

This is rare, and probably specific to your files.

Does this only happen with the Snapshots Transition, or with every Transition that you choose?

There is something wrong in the source file (JPG), and/or the decoder software of the screen saver doesn’t know how to handle something in the file. Some software has better error handling/recovery than others.

I would expect that photos from the same camera, or edited with the same editor, or not edited at all, or edited in the same time period, or once copied from the same faulty disk, would show similar artifacts.

If the photos open ‘fine’ in an editor, then try re-saving these as new files, to replace the ones that do not read back right.
