Question: MacBook Security & Privacy (Mojave)

Since updating to Mojave. the process for signing in to my Apple ID and other things that require passwords seems to have changed.

I open System Pref > Security & Privacy

When I click the lock and enter my computer password (Administrator), the password that I type does not appear, and neither do the black dots that sometimes showed. The space where I type is still blank when my password is typed in. I press Enter, and my password is obviously accepted.

And in the Apple Mail App > Accounts, instead of a password or dots, the area for the password shows little blocks.

What's going on? I'd really like to be able to see my passwords when typed.

Macbook (2016 or later)
