Copying Files From iPhone 7 Locks Up PC or Hangs For a LONG time

so i got my mother iPhone 7 since she got a XR and i want to use this as my phone but when ever i want to copy a video or a photo from the phone to my PC the iPhone will sometimes lock up the PC untell i unplug the phone from the USB port, or it will just hang for mins on end just to copy a 2MB photo i just toke. other times it will work just fine but copy stuff at USB Gen1 speed. if i do the same stuff with my ipod touch 5th gen it works like normal i dont have any props. some with my 1st gen ipad mini. so at this point there is something wrong with the phone but idk what it is
