How do I restore backup Notes from Time Machine

I recently wiped my Mac Air HD and clean installed MacOS Mojave 10.14.1. I have a backup of all my information, including the MacOS on external HD. Now I want to restore only my Notes from the Time Machine.

I searched for "how to" but am still not getting my way around it. For instance going into ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Notes/Data/Library/Notes/; I saw three files (database files). I opened with Text editor and it looks encrypted. I cannot read.

Please, I need a step-by-step procedure to restore my Notes. I need your help.

NB. I did the backup on only external HD and NOT on iCloud.

You need to completely restore the Notes folders, not just the files contained within. Notes folders are in two locations:

~/Library/Containers. Restore all folders that start with "com.apple.Notes"

~/Library/Group Containers. Restore all folders that start with "group.com.apple.notes"

Hope this helps you! Regards, Ian.
