I’m trying to record a voiceover on Final Cut Pro x but input gauge’s not oscillating and nothing’s recorded. Tried on external hard drive and on main hard drive still no recording. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated thanks

Reset the FCP X preferenes.
Hold Option-Command as you launch FCP X.
A reboot of the Mac sometimes works.
Also check the System Preferences Audio to make sure the correct input device is selected.

If you are running Mojave you will have to give the security permission to use the mic:

I just tried these but still no luck also tried external microphone again no luck
is there anything else I can try as only other option is to use QuickTime player to do voiceovers but it’s not ideal
