Mike's answer gives you the most convenient way to move files from one computer to another but there is a caveat. When you use Migration Assistant (MA) or Setup Assistant (SA) you must select which account(s) you want to transfer. You can then select folders but you cannot select individual files. In other words, you can choose to move (actually copy) your Documents & Music folder but not your Library and Video folders. But you cannot select just some music files - it is all or nothing.

Also note that if you do this when you first start up the new computer SA creates your account for you. If you do this after you've initially started the computer and created your account, when you run MA a new account is created for the files that are transferred. To see them you'll have to log out of the current account and then log into the newly created account (which will have the same name and password as was used on the other computer).

If it sounds like migration assistant isn't what you want to use, your other choice is to use TimeMachine to select the specific files you want to copy.
