After reviewing your post, it sounds like there are multiple apps that are loading then crashing. It may be that there is something running in the background that is causing this behavior. Let's restart and boot into safe mode as this will prevent from loading startup items and then we can observe if the issue persists. Also, make sure all the software on the iMac is up to date too.
