I can't upgrade my photos App! Help in time for x-mas.

My daughter created two photo books in the Photos App on my MacBook Pro which is running OS X El Capitan Version 10.11.6.

When we try to "buy book", a window appears that says I need to "upgrade Photos to the latest version" to complete the purchase. The Photos I am currently running is version 1.5, last modified Wednesday, November 9, 2016.

I have been unable to find any way to upgrade Photos. I have been to the App Store, checked "Updates," and checked "Purchased." In neither place is there an option to upgrade my current Photos App. In "purchased," there is a 2014 version of iPhoto that is available to open, but obviously this is no longer what I am using.

Please tell me how to order and purchase the photo books my daughter has created in time for X-mas.

For you the best option would be to save the books as a PDF file and then to upload them to a service that can print Apple Books from PDF files - Mimeo or Presto Photos. There may be different services available in your home country, if you are not in the US:

Some services that will print the book:

Mimeo used to print for Apple and can handle PDFs created in Photos, see: https://import.mimeophotos.com
Also Presto Photo can print from Apple: https://www.prestophoto.com
If you are not located in the US, there may be local printing services, which would be more economic with respect to international shipping fees and shipping time. In Germany we can use photographerbook to print existing Apple PDF files: https://www.w2p-photographerbook.de/fotobuch-aus-aperture-iphoto-fotos
