iPhone SE power button problem

Hi,

My wife’s iPhone SE’s power button is unresponsive all of a sudden. She went to turn off the phone but pressing the power button did not do anything. So I went to the settings and shut down from there and it went into boot loop. I connected the phone directly in the wall charger and only then the boot loop stopped. Every time I’m trying to restart the phone, it gets in to boot loop. When I did hard restart holding the home and power button, it did restart but then went into boot loop.

Things I have tried so far:

  1. Reset the phone to factory default
  2. downgraded iOS firmware to 12.1 from 12.1.1 (we have upgraded the firmware to 12.1.1 on Dec the 9th)
  3. cleaned the power button with alcohol swab

but still power button is unresponsive and the phone goes to boot loop if we restart. If we try shutting it down completely, it doesnt shutdown but it restarts and goes to boot loop. Only way to kick out of the loop is to plug it in to a power source.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to go about fixing this problem please?

It sounds as if the phone hardware may have failed or the switch became jammed down.

Your best bet is to take your phone to your local Apple Store for testing; if the button is stuck down internally they may be able to free it.
