How to NOT install macOS Mojave?

I never accepted a new OS installation, but still my Mac complained today about an OSX installation that went wrong. Why? An OS installation that renders software and hardware obsolete, should never be initiated automatically. My 2013 Mac runs fine on High Sierra, and I don't want to buy a new Wacom for it to run under Mojave. How can I prevent this kind of surprises?

Set your AppStore Preferences to: "Automatically check for updates", but only check, " Install system data files and security updates". Then you can choose what you want to update and when you want to update.

If the OS is "nagging" you to download Mojave, do this: download the installer. When the download is finished, stop and quit the installer. You will find it in your Applications folder. Leave it there - the background process of the app store will see it there and stop nagging you.

FWIW, there is always progress and new features in electronics - almost daily it seems and there is no way to stop that progress permanently. And, when something new (a new OS) is introduced, third party devices or apps either need to be updated by their makers or they decide to no longer support it because they also want to sell you a new one.
