Safari trouble

I’m running OSX 10.10.5 on my 2010 27” Mac and today Dafari stopped working. It won’t load. I just get an error msg. I’m resistant to upgrade OS because the last time I went to Yosemite my whole system crashed. Any thoughts??

Try opening Safari in Safe Mode:

Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support

Try Safari in a new user account:

macOS Sierra: Set up users, guests, and groups on your Mac

If neither of those work try reinstalling Safari by either reinstalling Mac OS, or by using the latest Combo Update for your system software.
