Recording phone calls on an IPhonex

The key word in your question is "secretly".

"Secretly" recording an incoming (or outgoing) call is illegal in many areas. It should never be done. There is no way to do this because it is so often illegal.

In my opinion, there are some legitimate reasons to secretly record a phone call if allowed by law.

I am certainly glad I will never be speaking to you on the phone! I would never want to be secretly recorded under any circumstance. And, as deggie says, there’s no way to record anyway.

But there is no way to do so on an iPhone other than putting it on speaker and using a different recorder.

Apple does not allow apps to hijack call audio.

This is part of the larger security that Apple uses in iOS. It's why iOS is secure.

If you want an OS that allows programs to hijack and capture audio and is not as secure, leaks your private information everywhere, what you want is Android.

Generally speaking, one of the parties would always know it’s being recorded, since one party would be doing the recording. The problem (and legal issues) arise because the other party may not know.

Again, such recording should never be done.

I have had to record phone calls without the others persons knowledge. It is legal where I live if one of the parties involved knows the recording is taking place. I beleive this should be legal everywhere. In my situation I was being threatened with bodily harm repeatedly over several phone calls. I needed the recording to go to the police. In fact they told me about the legality of doing the recording and suggested that I do so. That without it they could do nothing. I solved the attacks against me by informing my harasser that I had recorded previous phone calls and that the police had copies. If anything happened to me, he would be the first person looked for. And then played one back to him. He never called again. This wasn’t an ex . It was a disgruntled subcontractor. But I totally beleive being able to legally record saved me from harm if not death.
