Pandora app running in background and draining iPhone battery.

Update: I had a new battery installed last week, and Pandora has not been draining my battery in the background anymore. I did not need to delete/reinstall the app. Battery performance is much better. Pandora does still sometimes show up as having run in the background, but not with any significant battery usage. I do have Automatic Updates turned on for apps, so maybe it has something to do with that. Anyway, as the battery performance is much better with the new battery, I'm happy! Thanks for all the helpful suggestions!

This is what boggles me, because I already have notifications disabled for the app, have all background refresh settings off in the app’s own settings, and have also disabled background app refresh as a general setting for all apps on my iPhone. Yet it still somehow shows up as using battery while running in the background.

Exactly, I haven’t used the app at all in several months. Haven’t even launched it. I mentioned this in my original post, and added that I do occasionally use the Pandora app on Apple TV, so I wonder if that could somehow be related. In any case, yes, I’m planning to delete the app and reinstall it after I get the battery replaced. Fingers crossed that this will do the trick! Thanks for your suggestions.

Thanks for info on killing apps. I didn’t know that. I will keep killing the ones that do create a battery drain, however, since the article you linked does approve of that. For me, it’s Netflix. And if Pandora were actually running, I’d kill it, too.

Definitely planning to get a new battery this week, as I am planning to take advantage of the $29 deal. Then I’ll delete and reinstall Pandora to see if that helps.

Still curious about why/how Pandora is “running” in the background without having been used in months.
