Pandora app running in background and draining iPhone battery.
I have an iPhone 7 running iOS 12.1, and the battery health is currently showing maximum capacity at 83%, supporting peak performance. Naturally I’ve been noticing quicker loss of battery charge based on my usage, particularly Netflix. However, I have also noticed mysterious battery usage from Pandora, which I have not used in months. I haven’t even launched the app in I don’t know how long. It isn’t running in the background because I routinely quit apps to prolong battery charge. I also have all background app refresh disabled on the iPhone, and as a precaution have disabled it in the app’s own settings. Yet it still mysteriously shows up in my battery usage, today showing 45% of background usage running for 5 hrs 28 mins in the background. How is this possible? This has been happening off and on with Pandora for a few months, and I’ve restarted the iPhone several times, as well as installed the various iOS updates when they are available.
I do have Apple TV 4K, and occasionally use the Pandora app on that. Could that somehow be related?
Incidentally, I’m thinking of replacing the iPhone battery for $29 before that deal expires on Dec. 31st. Maybe that will help?
Thanks for any advice and suggestions!
