Every so often, around 10 or 11 pm, the screen on my Mac lights up while I am trying to sleep. Is there any way to prevent your Mac from turning on in the middle of the night? I assume this is probably normal. Any ideas as to what might cause this?
Have you checked System Preferences/Energy Saver/Schedule to see if a wake time is set? Make sure Wake for network access isn't checked.

I had wake for network access checked. I just unchecked it, what does it do?
If you have an application that refreshes every so often using a network connection, that will wake the computer. For example, a web site loaded in Safari that automatically refreshes every hour.
