iPod Hi-Fi not working

Hi!
Does anyone have experience of the tecs. in a iPod Hi-Fi Speaker? Mine has simply stopped working and doesn't respond at all. I've got it opened just to have a look but I have no idea what I should be looking for. So: What usually breaks in a speaker like this?
Im not interested in turning the whole thing in to apple or such since they charge way to much. I'd rather go to my local sound guy with the broken piece and see if it can be saved.
Thank You

Hi f.ted,

mine is also dead with the same symptoms.
I have some experiences with electronics. But without a schematic diagram the chance is not good. First thing I would consider is a fuse (if there is one) or the power supply.
By the way: How did you manage to open the case? There are no visible screws etc. I don't want to apply the brute force approach.

Sorry for not answering. I turned it in to “the guy” the other day. He said theres nothing he can do and that it needs to be repaired by someone Apple authorized. He said something about the aggregate? I’m picking it up monday for more information.

Acros-Krik: The model of the speaker is A1121 and i'll have more information about what he's checked monday.

Ralph: The case is pretty easy to get open, just use something really thin to get in and "cut" loose the black panel (+ some light force). Once you get that off there's screws to remove either the speakers one by one or the whole thing.

Hello, I had my Hi-FI Speaker in the same conditions.

I don't know what happened with it. Suddenly one day it stopped working. I tried to repair it in an Apple Service Store, but they did not receive it. The reason, warranty had expired.

Since I bought it, I have used it few times (my wife hates to listen music in my room). Probably if I sum my Hi-Fi working hours, they are less than 50 hours in total. The funny/saddy thing is that the equipement stays just in front of my bed, like the first day when I took it out from its box. It seems brand new, without any scratch, but it does not work. I see it every single day.

Something weird happened four months ago when I connected again my iPod and the HiFi worked. Everybody here were surprised listening music coming out from it. But, when as a try, I took out the iPod and connect it again to the Hi-Fi, it never works again.

On the other hand, I had also tried to open the equipment, but I didn't find any screw. Every screw is hidden.

Does any body can give me some tips to open the Hi-Fi or tell me what probably is going on with it???

I will appreciate any tip from you.

Thank you
