Changing the Name of a Device

Can you change the name of a device in iCloud?

I have a few devices that I have added to my classroom. I would like to change their names on my Apple account to "Student Device 1," Student Device 2," Student Device 3," etc. instead of a John Doe's iPad, John Doe's iPad, etc.

This should help you with your current issue

To change the name of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, follow these steps:

  1. On your iOS device, go to Settings > General > About.
  2. Tap the first line, which shows the name of your device.
  3. Rename your device, then tap Done.
