Live Photo won’t play

VAST numbers of websites say to play a Live Photo on iOS just force touch in the photos app.

That simply doesn’t work (any more?). It is the obvious thing to do. But nothing happens. I can’t recall ever playing a Live Photo in the photos app so I can’t say that it ever worked. But it definitely does not work in iOS 12 iPad or iPhone.

I can play as the lock screen. Or even as an iMessage. But not in photos. It seems certain I’m doing something wrong. But I’m out of ideas. So at the risk (certainty) of looking stupid, HOW pray tell do I play a Live Photo in the photo app.

Let's start by having you restart your device and then take a look at the following article with some steps that can help.

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Take and edit Live Photos

Also, make sure you're using the latest version (12.1.2) of software on your devices as well.

Honestly I can’t even say thanks for the reply. Did you even skim my post?

Yes. I am on the most recent release of iOS. No. Pressing the photo does not make it play.

I have 2 iPhones and an iPad. It doesn’t work on any device.

And yes yes I did reboot.

This has been broken for months.

Any USEFUL suggestions would be appreciated.
