Just got a new 2018 ipad pro 12.9 inch and looking to get a case keyboard combo. Do I have to buy the new folio at £199 or will older models work with the new 2018 ipad pro?

Apple moved the smart keyboard connector on the 2018, 3rd gen iPad Pro models, to the back of the iPad.
So, older smart keyboard cases for previous iPad Pro models will not work, with the new 3rd gen iPad Pro.
Also, the new 3rd gen iPad Pro is a smaller size.
The previous iPad Pro cases will be oversized now.

Apple has not, to my knowledge, indicated any compatibility with earlier versions of their smart keyboard. As such, you would be wise to assume direct compatibility only exists with the new keyboard or folio.
