After upgrading to Mojave my MacBook restarts when I plug an Arduino Nano into the USB port

After doing an upgrade to Mojave every time I plug an Arduino Nano into my MacBook Air the MacBook restarts with the usual message about a problem causing it to need to restart. I tried removing the usbserial.kext kernel extension having read elsewhere that the might help, but it did not. Anyw=body seen this and have a solution?

Thanks

1) Start your mac in Safe Mode, and plug the arduino: does it also restart?

2) Run Etrecheck and post its report here. I am thinking that some third party software - possibly a driver - maybe involved.
