Airport Extreme Not Working with Spectrum

I recently lost internet via my Airport Extreme. I did the following:

Reset the Router

Reset the Modem

Replaced the modem

Spectrum came and tested the line, claimed it's an Apple issue.

For testing purposes, I replaced my extreme with my kitchen Airport Express and bingo, WiFi is back. I happen to have another Airport Extreme that use as a router for some equiptment that I travel with. I reset it and tested it on the network and "NO Internet." Now I've tried 2 Airport Extreme's, both less than 2 years old and neither work.

Further investigation, I was encourage to set the IPv6 to Link-local Only. Tried it with both, no luck. I do notice the settings on the express are different than the Extreme.

Thoughts?

I should also note here, when I moved the Airport Express to the modem, it found an update available, that the Extreme did not have.

I really like the Time Capsule Extreme and I hate to replace it. It appears that Spectrum is making some changes that aren't supported by Apple.

I have the screenshots ready of my setup with a connection from Spectrum.......but I use a "simple modem" (only one Ethernet port on the device).........so my setup won't really provide much information for you if you are using a modem/router or gateway device that combines a modem and router in one single package.

That's why I asked for the make and model of your modem in the previous post, to make sure that you were using the same type of modem that I am using.

In addition, I use the Google DNS servers rather than the DNS servers that are provided by Spectrum. Last time I checked, Spectrum was still not providing specific DNS servers for IPv6 and instead were relying on what is known as a "dual stack" for their IPv6 service.

Unfortunately, I cannot find anything about a Spectrum E31N2V1 when I try to do a search. Unless something has changed very recently, Spectrum does not manufacture any modems at all.......they use modems provided by other manufacturers.

Please check again to see if you can find a manufacturer name........Arris, Asus, Netgear, Linksys, etc.....and model number. Please do not post a serial number.

If you are still having difficulty, tell us whether the device that you call your "modem" has only one Ethernet port, or whether the "modem" has 4-5 Ethernet ports, which would make it a modem/router or gateway.

I just checked a few minutes ago with a spare AirPort Express that I had on hand, and it worked just fine when I set it up with my modem as a test. So, both my AirPort Extreme/Time Capsule and AirPort Express work just fine on a Spectrum connection. So, I cannot duplicate the issue that you reporting to try work from that angle.

It appears, from your screenshot, that your ISP is providing IPv6 service which your AirPort Express was configured to work with. Reconfiguring the Extreme base stations to IPv6 Link-local Only would have disabled IPv6 and would require that your ISP is still supporting IPv4 ... which AFAIK, is still supported by 100% of them.

I'm assuming that you have already tried the same IPv6 settings, used on the Express, for the Extremes, and this didn't work ... even after restarting both the modem & base stations ... correct?

FWIW, the update to the Express is, most likely, not what is letting it work. The latest firmware update for the 802.11ac is 7.7.9; for the 802.11n models, it's 7.6.9. Are either of these what your Extreme/Time Capsule's running?

Just a quick note to point out that there was a recent 7.8 update for the 2nd Gen AirPort Express that added AirPlay 2 capability for the AirPort.

AFAIK though, there were no IPv6 changes to the 7..8 firmware on the Express, so IPv6 settings should be the same with any of the AirPorts.

FWIW, I do have Spectrum service here, and as far as I can tell, there have been no recent changes to IPv6. The AirPort Extreme 802.11ac that I am still using works just fine with IPv6 settings from Spectrum. No problems at all for the last few years in that regard as far as connection difficulties.

I'm away from my home office at present, but should be back later today, and I'll post a screenshot of the current IPv6 setup for the AirPort Extreme.
