page numbering

I have made 8 sections individual and now want to number each section with a continuous number system, like a book with 8 chapters. I can't make it work. Each section wants to start over with the number one and not the last number printed on the previous section. How can I do this in Pages? Or how can I start the numbering system manual with the number I need?

Thanks for responding to my problem. But, I found that the page numbering process, from you, would not work and put in the correct number, or any numbering. So, after taking your thoughts and messing around with "Pages HELP" thoughts, I found a system that would work and gave me correct numbering on each of the 8 sections that I needed for my project.

  1. Call up the first page of the section, you want to start numbering.
  2. Go to the footer & click were you want the page number to appear. You should see a drop down menu saying "insert Page number here".
  3. Change from "format" to " document"
  4. Click on "section" under document.
  5. Remove checked mark under "match previous section"
  6. Return to format and click on "insert". A drop down menu will appear and click on "page number"
  7. Return to document section, page numbering and input the number for the start of this sequence of page's numbering for this section of your project.

Thank you for your help and have a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year
