Screen Sharing Over Internet without asking Permission (Mojave)

My Dad is coming to visit and would like to control the screen of his iMac from my Mac Pro. The two computers are in different states. Using Apple’s Screen Sharing program and connecting with my Dad’s Apple ID, we can make this work except for one critical issue - Screen Sharing always insists on asking permission to share my Dad’s iMac screen. While Dad is there to agree, everything works fine. But if no one is at his house to provide permission (i.e. when he is at my house), Screen Sharing doesn’t connect. I’ve read that if both computers are logged into the same Apple ID account, screen sharing should start automatically, but that doesn’t in my case. Any thoughts on how to avoid asking for permission.

Thanks, Will

After enabling "easy access" to Dad's computer, I was able to view and control his iMac as expected. Dad was able to unmute his mic, and we could both hear each other also. Oddly, my view of his TeamViewer Audio widget was blacked out, so I couldn't see the unmute button. I'm impressed with TeamViewer so far. Thank you to a brody and BobTheFisdhman for suggesting this app.

Thank you for the suggestion. I installed TeamViewer on both Macs. I can connect to my Dad’s iMac and see his screen, but I can’t control anything. One time, I saw a large blue cursor that appeared to be controlling his computer arrow, but I couldn’t move windows or affect anything on the screen. I’m still going through the documentation. Dad can hear my voice once I unmute the mic through TeamViewer, but I can’t hear him, and his iMac TeamViewer doesn’t seem to have an unmute button. I must have missed something pretty basic. Any thoughts?

My Dad used TeamViewer over the holidays to connect remotely to his iMac at home, and it worked flawlessly. He has since returned home, and I was able to use TeamViewer to remotely connect to his computer and help him through a number of issues. None of the problems we had with the Screen Sharing app (e.g. loss of cursor control, poor audio connection, long delays (30+ sec) to mouse clicks) occur with TeamViewer. I agree that TeamViewer is an excellent product and am sorry I spent so much time trying to get the Screen Sharing app to work. Many thanks to a brody and BobTheFisherman for steering me in the right direction.
