photos and storage on MacBook Pro

When I add one or more photos to an album in Photos on my MacBook Pro, is it using up more storage space because it's both in the general "Photos" location and the album? or is it the same amount of storage used?

Photos in albums or smart do not need much extra storage. Each photo is stored only once in the library, and the albums are referencing the stored photos. Albums are like index cards.

The only albums that need extra storage are Shared albums, because the shared photos have a smaller size than he original photos. So additional previews are needed for shared albums.
