FCPX hangs when I color correct a clip

Hi. My mid-2015 MacBook pro hangs when I color correct a clip. It happens when I try to change the parameters using the color controls and the percentage sliders. The beach ball starts spinning and, I'm forced to do a hard reset. This also happens at random when the video is playing. I'm able to hear only the audio clip but FCPX freezes and, the beach ball starts spinning. I've tried trashing the preferences and deleting render files but, it didn't help. The videos that I edit are mostly from my GoPro and my phone. The free storage space on my mac is somewhere around 200GB.

Mac Specs:

Mac OS 10.13.6

2.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor

16GB of 1600MHz DDR3L

AMD Radeon R9 M370X with 2GB of GDDR5

Please help me out with this. Thank you.

Start by deleting preferences: hold down command and option while starting FCP X and click Delete Preferences. Always do this when there is a crash or some unexpected behavior.

If this is not enough, please tell us more about your mac, drive, os and application version...

Thanks for the information, and yes it was all there - my bad.

I take it that deleting preferences did not solve the crashing.

Please run the diagnostic tool Etrecheck and post its report here. There could be a conflict with other software - are you running any antivirus or have installed any "cleaners"?

Rerun Etrecheck and follow the instructions to remove the adware.

Also some software like the stuff from Blackmagic is quite old. I wonder if if it’s fully compatible.

You force shut down the computer? You couldn't force the quit the application? Make sure you reset preferences whenever the application crashes or is force quit. Give your complete system specs.

I've removed the adware and all the files related to Blackmagic.

I still had to hard shutdown while I was working on a project an hour ago.

I'm having the same issue, same machine but Mojave, ONLY while in the color correction workspace. After a while, spinning beach ball and forced hard reset. Fans never kick on but hot. Any ideas?
