iTunes for Windows install

I just read an Apple support article dated 12/3/2018: "Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows 7 and later" where it says to delete the iTunes, Bonjour etc folders located in Program Files or Common Files. Those folders do NOT contain any iTunes or Bonjour or Application Support folders. After downloading iTunes from the Microsoft store, there is no desktop icon. Also, iTunes or Apple are not listed in the Control Panel's "Uninstall a Program". I finally found the iTunes.exe application file and created a shortcut. It is a 0 kb file hidden under many layers of the Users folder: C:\Users\MyName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps\AppleInc.iTunes_nzyj5cx40ttqa\iTunes.exe. Why is it buried there and why no uninstall listing? Apple Support can be a little more perceptive and insightful if they care to instead of giving us blatantly misleading info.

There is a section in that document that gives different instructions if you've installed iTunes on Windows 10, and more specifically if you installed using the Microsoft Store.

Remove in Settings

  • Select the Start  button, then select Settings > Apps.
  • Choose the program you want to remove, and then select Uninstall. Some apps built into Windows can't be uninstalled.
  • To remove an app you got from Microsoft Store, find it on the Start  menu, press and hold (or right-click) on the app, then select Uninstall.
