How do I STORE files/folders on iCloud (in the cloud) but NOT STORE local copy on my Mac?

Dropbox, OneDrive and other cloud systems provide a setting for STORING files/folders on [Dropbox, for example] (in the cloud) but NOT STORING a local copy on my Mac.


How do I accomplish the same thing with iCloud?

You can't. iCloud is a syncing system, not an external storage system. The best you can do is go to System Preferences/iCloud/iCloud Drive/Options and check Optimization. That will move files into iCloud only if you get low on disk space. You have no control over will files will be moved to iCloud only.
