Canon MX330 duplex printing

Why can't I use the duplex feature of my Canon printer with my MacBook Pro?
It works just fine with my PC Netbook.
In the print dialog of the Mac, the two-sided option is greyed out.

I do not need a duplex unit at all with the netbook. It simply automatically prints the correct odd or even pages, pauses till I reinsert the pages in the loader, and resumes printing . So EASY with the netbook. Not even an option with the Mac. What gives Apple??? Why so many complications for such an easy process??

macbook pro, Mac OS X (10.6.2), also Asus netbook Windows XP Home

Here's the ridiculous process Apple requires:

1. in print dialog, go to "Microsoft Word".
2. [Click Word Options, be sure "reverse printing" is checked - this need only be done once]
3. Click OK
4. Choose "Odd Pages Only" and Print.
5. Reinsert pages as they came out, flipping so the blank side in now up, and top of page feeds first.
6. Back to a new print dialog
7. "Microsoft Word"
8. "Even Pages Only"
9. Click "Print"

** If the document has an odd number of total pages, you're screwed because you have to rethink the whole process in order to provide enough paper for the document. I'm realize it's not rocket science, but doesn't Apple promote itself on ease of use??

The PC only requires a couple of steps with ONE visit to the Print dialog.

In our region the machine has a built-in duplex unit and to print two sided you need to use the Duplex Printing & Margin menu. The two-sided option in the Layout menu has always been unsupported (not available) with the Canon drivers.

Interesting. I have tried almost everything for this printer:

Description: LBP5000
Location:
Driver: Canon LBP5000 CAPT (UK v3.10) (color, 2-sided printing)
Connection: cnbma://localhost:59687
Defaults: job-sheets=none, none media=iso a4210x297mm sides=one-sided

Including lpoptions -o duplex=true and sides=true to no avail. Yet I want the i-sensys to do what is advertised. Any luck getting some assistance from you, as you appear to know a lot about these printers?

Thanks.
