2018 Mac Mini - monitor problems

so two days ago I was on my Mac mini searching for a solution for my triple display and was messing with the scaled settings for displays and it woke up my third monitor and it seemed to be working just fine and I put my Mac to sleep for a bit while I ran an errand and when I woke I up, it worked just fine again, but when I shut the computer down and came back two days later to use it, the third monitor wouldn't wake up again. has anyone else experienced this?

My mac mini is such a buggy device. I use macs from 2012 and last years I think to migrate to linux. I hope apple to fix a lot of problems in last devices. Apple products are expensive and premium and this kind of bugs are unacceptable. Very bad quality.

Interesting - the monitor have 5120x1440 but choosing it makes everything look horribly and text is unreadable/major fuzziness. Better than on HDMI yes, but unusable - I think 10.15 is scaling it wrongly somehow - like its up-scaling/zooming it - both icons and text look very bad, which should not be the case at that res.

Somehow I get the impression the OS is not understanding the monitor and its actual max. res - despite it showing the res correctly when connected on DP 1.4 - on HDMI 2.0 it shows a lower res, but probably due to HDMI limitation. But the display quality is more or less the same - only slightly better on DP

Running at 3360x945 HiDPI makes it usable, but text is still fuzzy - even with smoothing at 3. Everything is huge though

So the OS is making it impossible to use my hardware as it should. Win10 do not have this problem, neither do any games etc.

No FileVault at any time

Sounds like the adapter itself might be the issue. I'm running 2304 x 1296 at 60 Hz; the monitor's natural res is 3840x2160 and the top res is 6720x3780. I just tried that top resolution and it looks good. However... when I set the resolution with a third-party program it doesn't look as good as with the control panel. Go figure.

I have your same problems with mac mini 2018 Mojave 10,14,2 with 2 monitors 24 "4K LG 24UD58-B. I hope in your solution, too.

That seems to have worked, I shutdown and restarted twice with no issues. Thanks so much for your posting, you saved me a lot of grief!

Do you have any source on this matter do they say what could the problem be? Is it another T2 chip related issues?

( I have the same problem with two 4k monitors even if I disable FileValut)

Have you heard anything from Apple since that moment? Would they fix this in one of the upcoming 10.14.x updates, or will this be fixed in next major macOS 10.15?

I wouldn't hold my breath, this seems a very low priority "problem" for apple.

Ha ha, that;s the opposite of my problem, where it can wake up but it can't start up...

It seems most important to me what <websterrobert> wrote, because it shows that our problem is into the <mac mini> and not into the <monitor>. Apple now to you: please solve it!
