SCAM 1-800-275-**** Fake Support number

Hello Apple Family,

I received a call today from 1-800-275-**** stating that my iCloud account was compromised. A automated message stated my account was compromised and that I needed to speak with a Support specialist. I was then transferred to a line with a women who stated that someone from a foreign country was trying to make purchases with my account. She then directed me to get on Safari to update the information. But never asked me what device I was actually working on regarding this issue. When I stated to her I was working from a Windows computer she didn't know what steps to take to assist me. Thank God, I had prior knowledge working for Apple and jumped on my computer updated password and deleted any devices that were previous used with my iCloud account. I was able to complete the task in under 2 minutes. (Mission impossible) I got back on the phone and stated it was corrected and proceeded to get off the phone with her. She insisted to stay on the line and while speaking I was able to discovered that this was not Support and SCAM to hack my account. I found a similar link that stating the same thing. So please be careful out there! Hopeful that helps H A P P Y H O L I D A Y S !!!

The scam is likely NOT from Apple tech support; it is no doubt from crooks who have managed to spoof Apple's number to make it look like the call is coming from a legitimate number. Happens all the time. Simply ignore and hang up or do not even answer the phone - Apple would not be calling you. Aside from that, there is no one in the world that would know what is on your computer (unless you have allowed them access). I no longer answer calls unless it is from one of my contacts.

Tried calling that number because it popped up on google as apple support and I needed (still need) help backing up my phone. The guy was very rude and started yelling at me because I had to raise my voice to answer what my e-mail address was for iTunes. My fiance tried calming him down but he was still yelling. VERY unprofessional. I took it as a red flag and told him to hang up.

I received a call this morning from this number. They asked me a series of questions regarding my apple account and particularly my Amazon account. Because I am new to apple, and I am not very tech savvy, I answered these questions. They also asked me to log in to my amazon account, which I did. Nonetheless, nearly 2hours later, I checked my bank account and realized that I had a $200 charge from amazon. I didn’t authorize that purchase. After starting a fraud claim with my bank and providing them with this “800-275-****” phone number, along with a brief synopsis of the conversation between the alleged Apple support representative and I, this transaction is believed to be fraudulent. In addition, this number contacted me not long after the conversation between the bank representative and I. PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS PHONE CALL.

Apple will not call you. These scam calls are made thousands of times every day. No one in the world can possibly know what is on your account or computer, they are just making things up. If you gave those crooks any information, you need to change your user names, Apple ID, and all passwords. You also need to contact your financial institutions and anyone else whose info you shared with them.

And from now on, simply hang up or do not answer the phone unless you know the caller.
