numbers symbols, what are they: Divide, Multiply,

to multiply use the "*" (asterisk) and to divide, use the "/" (forward slash)

Numbers will change these to the traditional "x" and "÷" after you type the enter key or click the check

Highly recommend in your menu going to Help > Numbers Help, and also Help > Formulas & Functions Help.

In Help > Numbers Help you may find the Numbers basics > Enter formulas and functions > Calculations section particularly pertinent.
