Missing Audio Drivers

I recently followed the suggested update on my MacBook to the latest Sierra 10.12.6. After the update was completed, I no longer had access to any inbuilt sound devices. No headphones, no speakers. The System Preferences sound section showed no option for output other than Living Room Apple TV. There are no input devices showing at all. When I launch Garage Band, which I previously used frequently, it generates an error message stating that "Selected Driver not found" (-10202)

Any ideas?

More tests to try to isolate the problem.

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. Please post back on whether or not this worked. Also try the Safe Mode. Please post back on whether or not this worked.

Hi Eric,

Thanks for the suggestion.

For some reason, eventhough Sierra 10.12.6 is already installed on the MacBook, when I tried to run the Combo Inataller, it installation failed and generated the following message

"macOS Sierra Update can't be installed on this disk. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update."

I'd appreciate any further advice you might have.

Regards.
