Question

Image selection on Preview seems uncalibrated.

I'm trying to select part of an image from a PDF file in Preview and paste it into a new document on Pages.

I've done this hundreds of times with no problem in the past, but today it started creating problems.

Pages keeps crashing when I try to paste, and if it doesn't crash, the image that I selected is pasted on the Pages document only partially or it's cut in half, or it even cut it in half and pasted the two halves on opposite sides....if that makes sense....the point is that the part of the PDF I've selected is not what is being pasted on the Pages doc.

The document is not locked.

MacBook Air running 10.14 Mojave.

Preview version 10.1

Pages version 7.3

Here are some screen shots of what is happening.

In the PDF document on Preview, I've made a selection and copied it:

Like I said earlier, I've done this successfully many times, and only today is it not working.

I've restarted my computer several times.

Sometimes the image is pasted as only a partial image rather than being "reversed" like you see here.

Other times it simply won't paste at all, and sometimes it makes Pages crash.

Please, someone tell me what to do to fix this!

I have PDF Documents containing images generated by Pages '09 v4.3, Pages v5.2.2, and Pages v7.3. You can double-click the image for selection, but you can only copy to the clipboard, and then paste into Pages v7.3. Drag and drop of images in Preview to elsewhere is disabled with no user override in Mojave, and High Sierra.

I see that you have further clarified the type of Pages document, and that you are using the ⇧⌘5 Clipboard capture. Page width images that I capture in this manner on Mojave 10.14.2 paste intact as expected when using this copy/paste solution into a blank Pages v7.3 layout document.

I am not trying to drag and drop.

I'm copying and pasting.

It's worked everyday I've tried it up until today.

I do this a lot for my job as an accompanist, and this is the first time it hasn't worked.

I haven't changed anything in the process.
