Adaptor to get Toslink optical output from my new iMac?

My new iMac has no optical output. Is there an adaptor? A USB to toslink convertor perhaps? I want to use the fifty foot optical cable that connected my 2011 Mac to my stereo receiver.

Yes, almost all of these adapters will show up as an audio device which you can then select as the output signal in Sound preferences. My only advice would be to stay away from the really cheap stuff as you may not be satisfied with the quality of the sound.

And make sure the adapter lists toslink as the output, not the input.

Thank you. I've clearly connected with someone who can help.

I have looked at several devices like "Signstek HIFI USB to Coaxial S/PDIF Converter Convert Digital to Analogue Signal Mini USB DAC PCM" but can't tell from the specs if this solves my problem or not. Nor can I figure out how to get an audio signal out of a USB port. Would this device show up as an output option in Sound preferences for example?
