I purchased an iTunes gift card ($50) but can’t figure out why iTunes is only billing my credit card and not my gift card???

You've purchased things and they charge your card ? If they did, contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com or http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ww
