Syncing the iPhone 4 and iTunes 9.2 is a miserable experience

I continue to have weird and random issues syncing iPhone 4 with iTunes 9.2. I will not have issues for days and then it will start. This morning, I had to do 4 syncs before it would complete. The prior attempts just ended in lockups: locked up sending a podcast to the iPhone 4, locked up at the end of the backup, locked up during a "verify".

This is the same PC I was using to sync my iPhone 3GS. There is either a big, big problem with iTunes 9.2 OR iPhone 4 OR both. Apple needs to get this fixed pronto.

Can't comment on the PC part because I sync with my MacBook. But if you believe this is an Apple problem you should talk to Apple tech support, store or phone.

Actually his post sounded more like a complaint than a request for support, and even though this is forum under Apple.com> *Support*>Discussions, it is a good place to exchange information with other users. For example, with iOS4 and itunes 9.2 things work a lot better for me. Apple has finally started to address some bugs that affected me since Iphone OS 3.1. Even though the upgrade took like 3 hours.

This sounds like something I have witnessed before with my iphone3g. I would attempt to sync large amounts of data, and my computer would just lock up completely requiring a reboot. After some digging, I realized that apparently the USB port I was using on the front of my PC was some sort of hub, and that was unknown to me, a big no no for apple products. I then switched the cord to a USB port on the actual motherboard, and since then I haven't experienced any sort of problems. Hope this helps.

I've found sync with 9.2 and i4 much improved. The phone is recognised much quicker and syncs faster.

Only thing I can suggest in your case is to click on the iPhone icon when it starts to sync and then watch the list of activity in iTunes to see where it gets hung up. Or you can un tick all the sync options, see if it works, then retick each in turn and sync in between. That will identify which bit of the sync is causing problems so we can focus on understanding why.
