Basically, I imported a video to iMovie from my iPhone 8 to my MacBook and the video was fine when played on QuickTime and in Photos. But once imported into iMovie, the video has a fuzz that keeps flashing up over the video and the video appears pixelated in flashes that has distorted the video. If anyone could help me that would be great. I've attached a photo for reference.

The first thing to try is to restart your computer and open iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and selecting to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects. See if that solves it.
If not, try creating a new project and importing your media into it and see if it still displays as fuzzy.
