or if you only want to transfer contacts and photos:

Contacts -- Settings > [username] > iCloud > Contacts - on in both devices (using the same Apple ID for iCloud).

Photos -- iCloud Photo Library on in both devices: Set up and use iCloud Photos - Apple Support
